The case

Why it works

It is a whole way of running a setting, not a room philosophy. Staff, parents, children, resources, food and finance run as one connected model, rather than six separate policies.

Graded and tested

Graded Outstanding by Ofsted twice as a childminding setting. That practice then grew into a full nursery, with its own registration, in a busy inner city area, and held through a pandemic.

Real depth

Postgraduate psychoanalytic study, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Autism with Distinction. I am now in further postgraduate training: in training, not qualified, and not a therapist, counsellor, psychologist or social worker.

Built over time

Built and matured over more than a decade of continuous use, not written for a launch date.

Two named resources run through the Ecosystem and also stand on their own: The Freedom Approach, written for children and young people for whom school has stopped working, and the Neurodictionary, a plain language resource, training and book for any age. MeMap and the Holistic Individual Learning Plan are the same: inside the model for early years, and sold and trained in their own right. Where a child's needs go beyond what a mainstream early years setting can meet even with graduated SEND support, The Freedom Approach is the named next step, not a gap the Ecosystem pretends to fill on its own.
